Anaemic ? Punp Up the Iron

Easily Tired ? Talking sick leave too often ? Is your skin pale ? Do you have brittle nails? Do you have experience shortness  of breath ,or nausea ? If you answered yes to most of these questions ,you could be anaemic.
How widespread? According to a recent National Family Health Survey ,around 59% of Asian women suffer from anaemia ,In children ,anaemia can hamper growth and language development.
What causes it? Anaemia occurs due to low levels of haemoglobin - the vital iron-containing protein that carries oxygen in the blood -stream. A diet in iron ,vitamin B12 and folic acid causes otherwise healthy individuals to become anaemic .Some diseases like malaria ,or internal bleeding  caused by an ulcer or tumour , can also lead to anaemia .Women who experience heavy periods too are at risk.
Fight it ! Maximize your iron intake- be sure to include green leafy vegetables ,soyabean  ,lentils ,beef, chicken, pork and liver in your diet. You may also consider taking iron or Vitamin B12 supplements ,but always take these under medical supervision.........
